The Labette County community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of Carl Hinkle, 69, of Walnut Shade, Missouri, who died following a motorcycle crash on U.S. 400 on Saturday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. when a 2005 Harley-Davidson was traveling westbound approximately one mile east of U.S. 169. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway, entered a ditch, and overturned.

Carl Hinkle sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Labette Health Hospital. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he was pronounced deceased about three hours later due to the severity of his injuries. Authorities also reported that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

His passing has left family, friends, and the broader community in deep sorrow as they try to process the sudden loss. Those who knew him are remembering him for his presence, his relationships, and the moments shared over the years that now carry even greater meaning in his absence.
